UPDATE: Power will be off longer than expected

The power to Dalview, Larrendale and the Dalpark areas will only be restored later this afternoon.

The Herald received a message from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality at 11.53am, stating that the restore time would be between three to five hours.

No official explanation on the cause of the outage was provided.

A fault with an oil cable connector is to blame for the power outage in the Dalview, Larrendale and Dalpark areas.

According to Brakpan DA ward councillor, Shaune le Roux, engineers will be switching to another feed and the power should be restored within the next few hours.

The Herald is aware of the power outage in Dalview, Larrendale and some areas of  Dalpark.

While some residents reported hearing a loud explosion during the early hours of this morning, the cause of the outage is currently unknown, and the Herald is awaiting feedback from council.
