Carnival City to clean up Holomisa

Carnival City’s “green team” has set its sights on cleaning-up the Holomisa informal settlement to mark World Environment Day on Friday (June 5).

Volunteers from Carnival City will canvass the area, picking up litter while machinery (brush cutters), will be brought in to cut the grass level.

“Every year on June 5 we celebrate World Environmental Day,” said Michelle Smith, marketing manager at Carnival City.

“The message we want to send out is that we all have an obligation to look after the environment and live in an environmentally-responsible way.”

“The earth gives us so much. It is time we give something back.”

“Even simple behaviours can collaboratively have a significant, positive impact, from picking up litter to recycling wherever possible, and using electricity mindfully.”

“We hope to inspire the community to start taking steps to take better care of their environment.”

World Environment Day is acknowledged annually across the globe. The theme for World Environment Day 2015 is ‘One World One Environment’.
