Burglar sentenced to 18 months

A man (28) was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment, for housebreaking and theft, when he appeared in the Brakpan Magistrates Court.

On September 3, 2014, a housebreaking occurred at a residence in Voortrekker Road, Brakpan.

Basins, taps, copper pipes and the valves of a geyser, to the estimated value of R10 000, were stolen.

Experts found fingerprints at the scene, which linked the suspect to the crime, and he was arrested on September 13, 2014.

Joe Baloyi was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment and was also found unfit to possess a firearm, on May 20.

The case was successfully investigated by Det Sgt Tseko Paulus.
