Security guard raped
On Saturday afternoon, a female security officer preparing herself to go off duty at the Brakpan municipal swimming pool was attacked by an assailant brandishing a large knife.
The man then forced himself on her.
The incident happened at around 5pm when the security officer was changing into her civilian clothes preparing to go home.
“The victim said that the man was wearing a grey T-shirt with grey short pants,” said the spokesperson for the EMPD chief, supt Wilfred Kgasago.
“Following the harrowing experience, the security officer locked herself in the guardroom and communicated her plight via a two-way radio as the perpetrator had also robbed her of her cellphone,” added Kgasago.
“Unfortunately, on arrival at the scene, the assailant had disappeared,” he said.
After a thorough search of the area to no avail, members of the EMPD and SAPS made an earnest plea to anyone who could have seen the suspect to come forward with information.
“Forensic evidence as a well as information provided by witnesses would be utilised in an effort to apprehend the perpetrator,” said Kgasago.
A case of rape was opened at the Brakpan police station.
