Notice to all crèches and pre-primary schools

Crèches and pre-primary schools interested in taking part in a police project, which aims to expedite the process of identifying children should they go missing, are urged to make contact with the local police.

Brakpan police launched the project last year, which sees SAPS members visiting nursery schools and Grade R facilities, to record the fingerprints of little ones.

Each child receives a form, which must be carefully completed by the child’s parent.

It contains information about the child’s name, address, gender, weight, hair colour, height, eye colour and distinguishable marks or features.

A recent photograph of the child is attached to the form and a full set of fingerprints of the child is taken.

“When a child goes missing, it is imperative to provide this information to the police as soon as possible,” said Capt Joep Joubert, spokesperson for the Brakpan police station commander.

Contact Joubert on 011 744 4940 for more information.
