VIDEO: Animal remains litter Brakpan street

Many residents in the area have complained of a foul odour.

Carcasses have been found at an illegal dumping site in Dalpark Extension 13, posing a serious health risk to those living and working in the area.

The bones, which are suspected to be those of cattle, have been dumped along Rooibos Street, among other illegally dumped trash such as building rubble and garden refuse.

A man from a nearby business told the Herald that carcasses are regularly dumped at the site over weekends.

“It’s been happening for a long time,” he said.

“It’s definitely a hazard, the smell is terrible and we have a rat problem.”

Many residents in the area have complained of a foul odour, and the smell from the bones, some of which have rotting flesh on them, is vomit-inducing.

It is not known who dumped the bones and the Herald is awaiting comment from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.
