Weekend crime round-up
The owner of a maroon Isuzu bakkie confronted a man trying to steal his vehicle.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:
• Friday – Two cars were stolen.
A white Opel (model not provided) was stolen from the corner of Northdene Avenue and Prince George Avenue, and a blue Isuzu bakkie (model not provided) was stolen from the corner of Voortrekker Road and Kerry Street.
Three residential burglaries were reported.
These took place at homes along Blyde Avenue, in Leachville, Hendrik Potgieter Street, in Dalview, and Germains Avenue.
Television sets, jewellery, clothing, cellphones and gardening equipment were among the items reported as stolen.
Police responded to a report of a suspicious-looking vehicle along Gerrie Swart Drive, in Dalpark, at about 7pm, and arrested two men for possession of suspected stolen property.
The vehicle, a 1400 Nissan bakkie, was stolen in Reiger Park, Boksburg, earlier that evening.
A hijacking was reported at an intersection along Elsburg Road, near Carnival City, in Dalpark.
Four men hijacked a family travelling in a white Toyota Conquest at about 11.55pm.

• Saturday – A business along Elliot Street was burgled.
Computers, a television set, stationery, food and other goods were stolen.
A black and red GoMoto motorcycle (model not provided) was stolen from an address along Kingsway Avenue, and a maroon Toyota Corolla was stolen from Voortrekker Road.
The owner of a maroon Isuzu bakkie (model not provided) confronted a man trying to steal his vehicle at the corner of Prince George Avenue and Victoria Street.
The would-be thief, who was discovered inside the bakkie at about 9.30pm, fled in a waiting BMW.
The bakkie’s driver side door was broken and the ignition had been tampered with.
• Sunday – A break-in was reported at a business along Voortrekker Road.
A gas bottle was stolen.
