Margaret Hirsch inspires school learners

Learners from Dalpark Secondary School took inspiration from a visit by businesswoman extraordinaire Margaret Hirsch.

Margaret, who is the chief operating executive of Hirsch’s Home Stores, visited the school on Tuesday, last week, where she spoke to learners about her life and her path to success.

She used the opportunity to launch an essay writing competition for the learners, the winner of which can win R5 000.

Capt Lusha Govender and Sgt Faith Ntuli from the Brakpan SAPS were also present and encouraged learners to focus on their studies and offered safety tips.

Grade Eight girl learners then enjoyed some one-one-one time with Margaret as she spoke to them about abstinence and the importance of staying in school.

Margaret also spoke to the girls about menstruation and personal hygiene, telling them that having a period should not hold them back from going to school.

She then handed out reusable sanitary towels, which can be used for up to five years.
