The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (December 14 to 15):

Cases reported:

• Theft of motor vehicle: 1
• Theft out of motor vehicle: 2
• Speeding: 2
• Theft: 3
• Possession of drugs: 3
• Malicious damage to property: 2
• Shoplifting: 1

Arrests:

• Refusing to provide name and address: 1
• Speeding: 2
• Theft: 3
• Possession of drugs: 3
• Malicious damage to property: 1
• Shoplifting: 1

Theft of motor vehicle:

• A white Honda Ballade was stolen from Dirk Van Der Hoff Street in Rand Collieries last night (Thursday).

Theft out of motor vehicle:

• A smash-and-grab was reported at the Voortrekker Road subway last night.

The incident took place at about 7.30pm while the driver was stationary at the traffic lights.

A man smashed the front passenger window and grabbed a cellphone from the passenger’s hand and ran off.

• On Tuesday, two trucks parked at an address along Springs Road in Witpoort Estates were broken into and some of the cargo stolen (cargo not specified).

The culprits also stole 10 tyres.
