The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (April 3 to 4):

Cases reported:

• Theft: 1
• Attempted residential burglary: 1
• Residential burglary: 1
• Use of motor vehicle without owner’s consent: 1
• Malicious damage to property: 1
• Possession of stolen property: 1
• Inquest: 1
• Assault GBH: 1
• Possession of drugs: 2

Arrests:

• Assault GBH: 1
• Possession of drugs/dagga: 2
• Receiving stolen property: 1

Burglary:

• Second Road, Witpoort Estates (Mkhankwa Village informal settlement).

The break-in took place yesterday (Tuesday).

Stolen: Clothes, cash, cooking pots and a set of knives.

Attempted burglary:

• Three would-be burglars fled after they were caught trying to break into a house in Minnebron yesterday morning.

The incident took place at around 2.55am at an address along Gert Bezuidenhout Street.

A loud noise awoke the homeowner, who then got up to investigate.

Peeking outside through a window, he saw the trio attempting to force open a security gate.

One of them spotted the resident at the window and they quickly fled the scene.
