The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (May 7 to 8):

Arrests:

• Possession of drugs: 5
• Murder: 2
• Housebreaking and theft: 1

Murder:

• The body of a man was found in Plastic City on Sunday.

Brakpan police were called to the informal settlement at around 10pm.

Upon arrival, a community member led officers to a bushy area where the body was located.

The deceased sustained stab wounds to the neck and stomach and cuts to his head.

It is believed the 33-year-old was involved in an altercation the previous evening, during which two men allegedly threatened to kill him.

Police have since arrested two suspects on a charge of murder.

Burglary:

• Short Road, Rand Collieries (business).

The break-in took place on Saturday.

Stolen: A laptop.

• Grey Avenue.

The home was burgled yesterday (Monday) and a suspect was arrested on the property.

He was found in possession of jewellery belonging to the complainant.
