Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A home in Buxton Avenue, Dalview, was broken into.

A suspect was caught removing water pipes from the kitchen.

He was found in possession of a bag containing window handles, which had been removed from the house.

The intruder was handed over to police and arrested.

• Saturday – A 51-year-old woman was shot in the leg during a robbery at a business in Milne Street, Vulcania.

The incident took place at about 11.30am when a man stormed the manager’s office and helped himself to bags of cash.

He fired a single shot as he was leaving and fled with two accomplices.

The injured woman was taken to the Far East Rand Hospital.

* A home in Grey Avenue, Anzac, was burgled of a TV, gaming console, liquor and other valuables.

• Sunday – No priority crimes were reported at the time of publication.

Other cases:

• Thursday – A battery was stolen from a vehicle parked along Station Road.

• House robbery: 1
• Housebreaking and theft: 1
• Possession of drugs: 3
• Shoplifting: 1
• Theft: 4
• Malicious damage to property and assault: 1
