Daily crime watch

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (June 11 to 12):

Cases reported:

• Robbery with firearm: 1
• Common robbery: 1
• Shoplifting: 2
• Fraud: 1
• Accident: 2
• Robbery with weapon other than firearm: 1 (Johannesburg case)

Arrests:

• House robbery: 3
• Shoplifting: 2

Armed robbery:

• A woman was robbed on Sunday by four men travelling in a white Toyota Quantum.

The victim was waiting for a taxi along 12th Road in Maryvlei at about 3.30pm when the vehicle stopped alongside her and two of its occupants threatened her at gunpoint.

She was forced to lie on the ground where she was searched and robbed of money and her bank card.

The robbers demanded the pin number for the card and later withdrew a large sum of cash.

Common robbery:

• A woman was robbed of her handbag at Mall@Carnival on Saturday.

The incident took place at about 2pm as the victim was exiting a shop.

A man grabbed the bag from her and fled with an accomplice.

The bag contained a cellphone, driver’s licence, ID card and other personal belongings.
