VIDEO: Young film actress shows great promise

A Dalpark Extension Six teenager is making a name for herself on the silver screen.

Fifteen-year-old Tarryn Naidoo, a learner from Jacobs Well School in Benoni, has a role in the fourth instalment of the popular local Broken Promises film series.

The movie, Broken Promises 4-Ever, was released in local movie theatres on July 27.

It follows the antics of the Padayachee family and is a modern take on a dysfunctional family.

Tarryn, who is a confident young woman with no fear of being in front of the camera, plays the part of Rooku Amsugi.

Without any experience in the film industry, Tarryn made a great impression at her first audition and was offered the part.

Her parents Cliffy and Shireen Naidoo, encouraged her to try acting.

“I am proud of her; ever since she was a little girl, whatever she put her mind to, she achieved,” said Shireen.

The young actress was a model for eight years and garnered numerous titles, but there is more to her than just a pretty face.

Tarryn is also a talented writer and is penning her own online book.

“I have a passion for writing and I have been writing my online book for two years now,” said Tarryn.

“It is my dream to become a writer one day and do acting part-time.”

The teen’s success is certainly an inspiration to others, including her own family.

Her brother Tyrone (28) followed in her footsteps and ended up bagging himself a part in the movie.

Tarryn finds her own inspiration in her parents.

“They struggled a lot in life and it just drives me to achieve great success,” she said.

She offered the following advice to others in pursuit of their dreams: “Don’t ever worry what other people say or feel about you, whether it be your parents, friends or enemies; if it is negative, it will affect you, just do what you must.”
