The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (October 22 to 23):

Cases reported:

• Theft: 4
• Robbery with firearm: 1 (Tsakane case)
• Tampering with infrastructure: 1
• Common assault: 2
• Malicious damage to property: 1
• Accident: 1

Arrests:

• Common robbery: 1
• Theft: 1
• Shoplifting: 2

Common robbery:

• A suspected cellphone thief was apprehended by community members yesterday (Monday) after a woman’s cellphone was stolen.

The victim was walking along Kitzinger Avenue at around 1pm when a man snatched the phone from her.

The suspect was handed over to police.

Burglary:

• Tandelsberg Street, Helderwyk Estate.

The break-in took place on Friday.

Stolen: A laptop, cash, jewellery and other valuables.

• Hastings Avenue.

The home was burgled yesterday.

Stolen: A TV, laptop, cash and jewellery.

Theft out of motor vehicle:

• A vehicle parked at an address along Bacher Avenue in Brakpan North was broken into yesterday. The vehicle’s battery, a CD player and some tools were stolen.

• A laptop bag was stolen from a car parked at the corner of Prince George and Hoy avenues yesterday.
