The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (January 17 to 18):

Cases reported:

• Theft: 3
• Common assault: 1
• Business burglary: 2
• Theft from motor vehicle: 1
• Pointing of firearm: 1
• Possession of stolen property: 1
• Residential burglary: 2
• Possession of drugs: 1
• Hijacking: 1

Arrests:

• Drunk driving: 1
• Attempted murder and assault on police official: 1
• Possession of stolen property: 1
• Illegal immigrants: 1
• Possession of drugs: 1
• Possession of housebreaking implements: 1

Hijacking:

• A Leachville resident was robbed of her white Ford Fiesta by hijackers last night (Thursday).

The victim was confronted by the hijackers outside her Dikbas Street home at about 7.50pm.

An eyewitness told police the hijackers were travelling in a grey Opel Corsa.

The victim’s car was recovered in Vosloorus, Boksburg.

Burglary:

• Station Road (business)

The burglary occurred on Wednesday.

Stolen: Cellphones.

• Short Street Rand Collieries (business).

The break-in took place on Monday.

Stolen: Water taps.

• De Merigny Circle, Brakpan North.

The home was burgled yesterday.

Stolen: A TV, hi-fi system, garden furniture and bicycles.

• Bester Street, Minnebron.

The residence was broken into yesterday.

Stolen: A laptop, clothing, jewellery and other household items.

Theft from motor vehicle:

• A battery was stolen from a bakkie parked at an address along Lester Road in Brenthurst yesterday.

A dog on the property was poisoned.
