Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – A bag was stolen from a car parked at the corner of Prince George and Kingsway avenues.

The bag contained a cellphone, tablet and come cash.

* A domestic worker was held at knife-point during a robbery at her employer’s Dalpark Extension Nine home.

Two robbers gained access to the house along Louis Leipoldt Street at midday after telling the victim they were sent by her employer to “do a quotation”.

Once inside the house, one of the robbers held a knife to the victim’s throat.

She was then taken to a bedroom where her hands and feet were bound.

The robbers fled with a TV, microwave, cellphone, DVD players, clothes, shoes and other household items.

* A woman was robbed of her handbag by the occupants of white Volkswagen Polo.

The incident took place  around 12.30pm while the victim was walking along Augrabies Avenue in Dalpark Extension Six.

One of the robbers threatened the woman with a firearm.

* A spare wheel was stolen from a bakkie parked at Mall@Carnival.

* Valuables including cellphones, a video camera and digital camera were stolen during a break-in at a property in Johan Street, Sunair Park.

• Saturday – A car battery and other vehicle parts were stolen from an address along First Road in Witpoort Estates.

* Two men, one of whom was brandishing a knife, robbed a pedestrian of his cellphone and cash at the corner of Stoffberg Avenue and Goods Road.

The pair attacked the victim around noon.

* A motorist was pepper-sprayed by a hijacker at the corner of Hamilton Avenue and Station Road.

The victim was sitting in his parked white Mercedes-Benz at approximately 8.30pm when he noticed a car pull up behind him.

One of the occupants climbed out of the vehicle and casually walked past the victim’s car.

The man suddenly turned around and pointed a gun at the victim, while a second man was aggressively knocking on the victim’s car window.

As the victim climbed out of his Mercedes, he was pepper sprayed by the gunman’s accomplice.

The pair fled in the victim’s car.

• Sunday – No priority crimes were reported at the time of publication.

Other cases:

• Thursday – A home in Talbot Street, Brakpan North, was burgled of a laptop and paintball guns.

* Window handles, electrical wiring and other fittings were stolen from a property in Crassila Street, Minnebron.

• Contempt of court: 1
• Theft: 2
• Shoplifting: 3
• Drunk driving: 1
• Contravention of liquor act: 1
• Possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition: 1
• Assault (domestic violence): 1
• Warrant of arrest: 1
• Housebreaking and theft: 5
