Mandela Day 2019: Volunteers make thousands of sandwiches (Video)

Young and old stood side by side to spread the love in 67 minutes.

Mall@Carnival’s Spreading the Love campaign saw hundreds of volunteers making as many sandwiches as they could in 67 minutes, today.

Hundreds of volunteers were making as many sandwiches as they could in 67 minutes.

The campaign, now in its fourth year, is in honour of Nelson Mandela and this year’s effort was very well supported.

An upbeat atmosphere filled the Mall@Carnival and left shoppers and visitors fascinated.

Shannan Groenewald (left) Portia Mphande, Bongani Maletshe and Rachel Mathe were four of the hundreds of volunteers who made sandwiches.
VC Spar, Dalview manager, Heinrich Buitendag was one of the many volunteers.
Two SANDF members who turned up to help is Johannes Matsemela (left) and Gift Sibanda.
Bonolo Dhlamini (left) and Malaeka Tshepamda enjoyed spreading the love.
