Dis-Chem professional hair salon partners with ghd for the Take Control Now Pink Campaign
For every hair styler sold from the range, R100 is donated to PinkDrive.

Dis-Chem Professional Hair Salon has partnered with ghd for the fifth consecutive year for their ‘Take Control Now‘ Pink Campaign, to create greater awareness of breast cancer and to support charities around the globe.
For the past 16 years, ghd has launched a limited range of products in various tones of pink which are sold at ghd stockist salons around the country including Dis-Chem salons.
Every year 120 000 women under the age of 35 are diagnosed with breast cancer, and only one in every two women regularly check their breasts for lumps for breast cancer.
Ninety per cent of women aged 18 to 35 years old only check a few times or less a year.
However, 75 per cent of women in South Africa use a hair styler at least once a month.
Taking this into consideration, ghd established its Pink Campaign to encourage self-checking more regularly.
Saul Saltzman, executive director of Dis-Chem, stated the retail pharmacy is very pleased to have been selected as the exclusive retail partner to participate in this campaign.
“Breast cancer is one of the top five cancers affecting women in South Africa and it is critical to ensure there is a constant drive to increase and maintain awareness about breast health,” said Saltzman.
“The client base across our network of salons is predominately female, and the clear synergies between Dis-Chem Hair Strategy salons and ghd reinforce how we can play a role in such an important cause.”
According to Chad van Zyl, managing director of ghd South Africa, ghd’s limited edition Pink collections have helped raise over R348-m globally to date.
“{The campaign runs until the end of September and we are encouraging all women to Take Control Now and do breast health regular checks,” he said.
