Join a virtual tour of the 1922 Rand Revolt on the East Rand

Joburg Heritage Virtual Tours and Talks presents the 1922 Rand Revolt on the East Rand on February 20.

Join SJ de Klerk as he delves into the 1922 Rand Revolt on the East Rand, referred to as the White Mine Workers Strike, Rand Revolt and even the Red Revolt.
Many of the events during this tumultuous period on the East Rand are little known.

First striker blood was spilt in Boksburg when a contingent of the South African Police clashed with a group of strikers at the historic goal in this town.

It is said the funeral cortège of the three deceased strikers to the Boksburg Cemetery was two miles long.

There will also be a virtual visit to the grave of the two Zackey children in the historic Rynsoord Cemetery, killed by a stray bullet, as well as other graves in the Boksburg, Primrose and other cemeteries.

Hear about the notorious massacre of eight mine officials and Special Police members by enraged strikers at the Brakpan Mine.
