The Africa Cup will be hosted in Benoni

Reporters will be granted special entry, but Covid tests will need to be done before entry.

The Africa Cricket Association (ACA) T20 Africa Cup has had the event shifted from Nairobi, Kenya, to Gauteng.

The eight-day tournament, that was originally to be held in March this year, has been postponed due to the pandemic.

They have now been allocated a date in the first week of September.

Fixtures will be from September 4 to 10, with the launch taking place virtually on August 15 via Mumbai, India.

“It seems likely that Willowmoore Park Cricket Stadium will host this event,” said Cassim Suliman, the CEO of ACA.

The ACA T20 Africa Cup will host eight countries:

• Cameroon

• Ghana

• Nigeria

• Botswana

• Malawi

• Mozambique

• Kenya

• Uganda

“The South African Sports Ministry has okay’d the event but it will have to be played with regards to the bubble logistics,” he explained.

“This, unfortunately, means no spectators, but the broadcasting rights have been awarded to SABC Sports, which will televise the event nationally as well as internationally.”
