Weekend crime round-up
A smash-and-grab was reported at the intersection of Heidelberg and New Kleinfontein roads near Leachville.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:
• Friday – A security guard on duty at a business along 7th Road in Witpoortjie was held at gunpoint and tied up during a robbery at about 04:00. Computers, a printer, tyres and other items were stolen.
* The female driver of a Volkswagen Golf was hijacked by two men in Katdoring Street, Dalpark. The incident took place around 8:00. The victim had turned into the street and saw two male pedestrians.
As she approached them, one of the men fired a shot at her car. The victim stopped and attempted to reverse, but the hijackers ran towards her.
When the victim refused to open the car doors, the gunman fired another shot. The victim opened the driver’s side door and managed to push past the hijackers and run away. This incident is linked to the raid by police at a property along Rangeview Road.
* A smash-and-grab was reported at the intersection of Heidelberg and New Kleinfontein roads near Leachville.
The driver of red Haval was stationary at the traffic lights at 17:45 when the driver’s side window was smashed by two men. The thieves ran off with the victim’s cellphone.
* A vehicle parked at an address along Wenden Avenue was broken into and a toolbox and tools valued at over R7 000 were stolen
• Saturday: A business in Uranium Road, Vulcania, was robbed of a coffee machine, cellphones and tools.
A gang of ten men gained access to the premises around midnight and tied up a security guard and robbed him of his cellphone.
* A yellow Daewoo Cielo was stolen from Millicent Street in Brenthurst.
* A battery was stolen from a car parked along Northdene Avenue.
One of the vehicle’s windows was also broken.
