Young man killed in shooting at Dalview house

The gunman fled the scene in a white bakkie.

A man in his 20s was gunned down in Dalview during the early hours of Sunday in what police suspect may be a drug-related crime.

The shooting took place at an address along Northdene Avenue at 02:20 and was witnessed by a 24-year-old woman.

“As alleged by her, she wanted to put cardboard on the door where there is a broken window because there was a draught,” said Captain Pearl van Staad, Brakpan SAPS spokesperson.

“A white bakkie stopped in front of the house. A male entered the premises and said she must move. The woman stood outside because she was scared. She then heard three shots fired.

“The male then jumped in the bakkie and fled.”

Van Staad told the Herald the shooting may be drug-related as three bags of crystal meth were found in the victim’s pocket.

She added the victim did not permanently live at the address but occasionally stayed over. A case of murder has been opened.
