Pilot unharmed after emergency landing in Vosloorus

The pilot said he managed to land it on its wheels but unfortunately due to running momentum, it rolled over because of the uneven surface.

A pilot survived after the mini aircraft he was flying experienced mechanical challenges and crashed inĀ an open piece of land in Vosloorus this Friday afternoon.

According to the Ekurhuleni DEMS spokesperson William Mogale Ntladi, the City of Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services responded swiftly to the ERWAT waste treatment plant in Vosloorus.

“On arrival, an uninjured pilot was found standing next to the aircraft. On enquiry, it was said that he had to do an emergency landing after the aircraft experienced mechanical challenges while in the air.”

Ntladi said the pilot was forced to make a quick decision within a split second in order to survive the crash and not crash into the houses.

According to him, he managed to land it on its wheels but unfortunately due to running momentum, it rolled over because of the uneven surface.

“The necessary Aviation Authority (AA) had to be notified and all other relevant stakeholders,” added Ntladi.
