Weekend crime round-up

An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from February 3 to 5.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

Friday – A business along Prince George Avenue was targeted by two robbers.

The duo, one of whom was armed with a firearm, entered the shop at around 08:45.

Staff were instructed to lie on the floor and their hands were tied with rope.

The robbers took off with a cellphone, cash and bedding.

• The driver of a delivery van was robbed at gunpoint in Minnebron at 09:55.

The occupants of a white Mercedes-Benz stopped behind the delivery bakkie while the driver was parked at an address along Farquharson Road.

A man armed with a gun got out of the Mercedes and ran towards the driver, pointing a gun at him.

The driver was instructed to open the back of the bakkie. The gunman took five parcels and fled the scene.

• Jewellery, a cellphone, a laptop, personal documents and other valuables were stolen during a house robbery at an address along Blesbok Street in Leachville.

Three women were in the home when four men gained entry at around 14:30.

The women were told to lie down in one of the rooms.

The robbers ransacked the house and made their getaway in a white BMW.

• Two cars were stolen.

A gold-coloured Renault Megane was stolen from an address along Wenden Avenue while a silver Mercedes-Benz was stolen from Prince George Avenue.

Saturday – A TV was stolen during a break-in at a residence along Victoria Avenue.

A suspect was later arrested in connection with the burglary and the TV was recovered.

Sunday – No priority cases were reported at the time of publication.
