Shavathon at Mall@Carnival supports cancer patients and survivors
Two survivors of breast cancer showed their support last Saturday at the Cansa Shavathon.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) held its annual fundraising Shavathon at Mall@Carnival on Saturday.
The shavathon is a popular event where the public can show their support for cancer patients by colouring or shaving their hair.
Losing your hair is a common side effect of cancer treatment, and this shavathon saw two breast cancer survivors showing their support.
Lorraine Joubert (69) survived breast cancer with no chemotherapy, only a double mastectomy. She shaved her hair and got a pink ribbon for breast cancer awareness sprayed on her head.
Rachel Kivedo (58) also survived breast cancer and coloured her hair pink and purple in support of cancer patients currently going through treatment.
