San Michele high tea a success
The guests appreciated the beautiful table decorations, delicious food and an expert guest speaker.
The San Michele Home held a high tea on Saturday to raise funds for the home. Fig on a Rock in Dalview catered for the event hosted at the Brakpan Garden and Pet Centre.
Sixteen tables, each seating 10, were beautifully decorated, and the guests received gifts of small succulent cuttings, bath salts or chocolate.
The guests also experienced the first performance by the Laerskool Môrewag choir.
After the choral performance, guests stacked their plates with various finger foods, including mini-cheesecakes, recently named the second-best cheesecake in Joburg and surrounding towns by radio station 94.7.

While enjoying their food, guests listened to a talk on resilience by motivational speaker Lynette Beer.
She spoke about turning frustration into inspiration, the importance of close relationships and vulnerability, the four temperaments of the human psyche, and how resilience is the one quality you need above everything else to survive life’s challenges.
After Beer’s speech was ended abruptly by load-shedding at 16:00, Marius Bosman, the administrator for San Michele, spoke about the home’s needs and how the public could help.
The guests enjoyed each other’s company for the rest of the evening before heading home.
