Eight LSEN schools compete in the Cerebral Palsy Gauteng soccer tournament
The kids had a blast despite the cold weather.
Cerebral palsy (CP) soccer teams from eight schools, each with three clubs comprising U16 girls, U16 boys and senior boys teams, competed in the Gauteng league on Saturday.
Players were scouted for the Gauteng teams that will compete at the national CP soccer event in March next year in Bloemfontein. The Gauteng Sports Association for the Physically Disabled (GSAPD) had representatives at the tournament to do the scouting.
Headed by Aubrey Mathbela, Thembi Mkomazi scouted players for the ladies’ team, and Andries Kenneth Phalane scouted for the junior and senior boys’ teams.
Gauteng is the defending champion and has been scouting players from all over the province to keep that title.
The scores for the seven matches played on Saturday were as follows:
-In match one, the Ezibeleni ladies’ team beat the Philang ladies’ team 5-0.
-Match two saw the boys from Philang and Ezibeleni schools go head-to-head, with Ezibeleni coming out victorious with a score of 5-0.
-In match three, Phillip Kushlick School and Adelaide Tambo School boys played up a storm, leaving the teams with a score of 5-0 in favour of Phillip Kushlick.
-Match four ended in a score of 4-1 in favour of Ezibeleni ladies against Phillip Kushlick ladies.
-Match five was the top match – a staggering win of 8-0 to Kwa-Thema Sports Academy FC against Modimo O Moholo FC.
-Phillip Kushlick and Adelaide Tambo tied in match six with a score of 2-2.
-At the day end of the day, there were no scores in Ezibeleni and Lead Change Development FC’s final league match. Both teams drew the seventh match 0-0.
