Youth empowered and appreciated

Young people enjoyed a day of fun, food and motivational talks.

Dalpark-based NPO The Lazarus Legacy Foundation and NOWBC (No Other Way But Christ), the youth division of Siloam Word of Truth in Brakpan, celebrated youth from various communities by hosting a Youth Empowerment Day at the church last Friday.

The event saw over 200 young people from Brakpan, Benoni and Boksburg gathering for a day filled with fun, food and motivational talks.

The theme for the day was BLUEPRINT – Your Skyscraper Moment. Talks included topics on the power of being a part of the community, the importance of finding your lane, the power of knowing what you are designed for and becoming community builders/developers.

Shiovone Kelly (NOWBC youth leader), Kivasha Moodley (The Lazarus Legacy Foundation operations manager) and Zwia Luvhimbi (NOWBC youth leader).

The youth also showed their competitive side by signing up for the soccer and volleyball tournaments lined up for the day.

For added fun, there was a mechanical bull and gladiator dual stick challenge on site. Breakfast, lunch and snacks were served to all in attendance.

“All of this was only possible through the overwhelming response of our generous sponsors and donors, as well as the support of a host of volunteers who helped on the day,” said Kivasha Moodley, the foundation’s operation manager.

“We plan to make this an annual event.”
