Leachville man assaulted and robbed at home

The man sustained no further injuries and his employees were unharmed. A house robbery case is under investigation by Brakpan SAPS.

A Leachville man was assaulted and his employees were tied up during a house robbery on Tuesday evening.

According to information received, the 43-year-old, who was dropped off at his Dikbas Street home by his girlfriend at around 20:20, was ambushed by a masked gunman in the yard.

The intruder forced him into the house, where a second robber was waiting. The man is self-employed and has employees staying on the premises.

They heard the commotion at the front door and went to investigate. The robbers threatened to shoot them if they didn’t cooperate.

The man was struck on the head with the firearm and started bleeding. The four employees in the house were tied up with shoelaces and forced to lie down.

One of the robbers demanded cash and firearms and started ransacking the house. The man was robbed of his cellphone and forced to tell the robbers the pins for his banking apps.

They successfully transferred cash from one of his accounts but had reached the daily transaction limit. They phoned an accomplice who instructed them how to increase the limit.

Another transaction was then made.

The cellphones of all four employees were taken. The robbers then made another phone call, presumably to the person they had spoken to earlier, asking to be picked up.

The man soon heard the front gate opening and one or more cars drive in. A TV, a kettle, a cutlery set, speakers, clothing and other household items were taken.

The man sustained no further injuries and his employees were unharmed. A house robbery case is under investigation by Brakpan SAPS.
