Bottle store bandits bolt with baskets of booze
It is believed at least two of the men were responsible for a previous robbery at the store.
Staff at a Maryvlei liquor store were held up by a gang of six robbers last Thursday evening.
According to Brakpan SAPS, two men pretending to be customers entered the Ergo Road store at around 19:35.
A staff member reportedly recognised the men as the perpetrators of a previous robbery at the shop.
The pair was asked to leave and the store’s security was notified. When security officers approached the men, one of them threatened the officers with a gun.
The duo were then joined by four accomplices and they helped themselves to liquor, R600 in cash and retail vouchers to the value of R500.
The value of the stolen alcohol was not disclosed but the men took enough to fill six shopping baskets and half a trolley.
The robbers fled in a maroon Renault Kwid. A case of business robbery is under investigation.
