Council acknowledges petition receipt
Clean Brakpan has requested permission to demolish the remains of the old tennis club in Brenthurst.
Clean Brakpan has confirmed that the City of Ekurhuleni has acknowledged receipt of their petition calling for the demolition of the former Brenthurst tennis club.
As reported in the Brakpan Herald’s August 30 edition, ‘Call to tear down gutted club’, the group is seeking council’s approval to demolish the eyesore. The petition was submitted to council on behalf of the group by PR Clr Riaan van Zyl.
Official communication from the municipality states the relevant departments will revert back with a report to be tabled and considered at the Council Public Participation and Petitions Standing Committee.
Clean Brakpan holds regular clean-ups in the park where the club is located and witnesses the impact of such dilapidated structures in the community.
The group believes its demolition will be a significant step towards eliminating crime hotspots, enhancing community safety, and creating opportunities for positive community building. Clean Brakpan thanked those who supported the petition.
