Street collection raises much-needed funds for Brakpan SPCA

The society's "blikkie skud" over the weekend received great support from the community.

Brakpan SPCA committee members, staff, volunteers and representatives from Siybonga Africa braved the heat on Saturday to collect money for the society.

Stationed at the intersections in the vicinity of Mall@Carnival, they convinced motorists to part with their spare change for the SPCA’s “blikkie skud” fundraiser.

Thanks to the public’s generosity, over R12 000 was collected in just a few hours.

“We are beyond grateful for our community’s huge hearts and generosity. A massive shout-out to everyone who answered our call, stopped by for a chat, and tossed a donation our way,” said SPCA manager Tamaryn Lombard.

“We also owe a huge thank you to the rockstar staff at 3@1 Mall@Carnival for whipping up some eye-catching signs to help us shine even brighter.”
