SASSA gold cards to expire: beneficiaries urged to upgrade

Time's running out: upgrade to the Postbank black cards.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has issued a final reminder to beneficiaries to upgrade from the outdated gold cards to the new Postbank black cards.

The deadline for the switch has been extended several times, but it will not be pushed back further than February 28.

After this date, the SASSA gold cards will no longer be valid, and beneficiaries who haven’t made the switch risk losing access to their grants.

To avoid disruption, Postbank is urging beneficiaries to upgrade to the new black cards by dialling *120*218*3# to find card-issuing outlets in their area.

Beneficiaries can still use their gold cards at major retail chains and ATMs nationwide until February 28.
