New deputy principal ready to make a lasting difference
Pieter Boy will officially bear the title of deputy head from April 1.
Being the deputy principal of a school is not cut out for everyone, but Brakpan resident Pieter Boy is ready to make his mark at Selcourt Primary School in Springs.
The 54-year-old grew up in Rustenburg and matriculated at Grenswag High School in 1988. After school, he studied senior teaching at the NKP College of Education where he received his Diploma in Higher Education.
Shortly after he graduated, he started his career at Laerskool Generaal Andries Brink in Pretoria where he worked as a temporary teacher for a year.
In 1995, he moved to Brakpan and joined Laerskool Kommando where he worked for six years. He then received a permanent position at Laerskool Brakpan-Oos where he taught for 14 years.
For the last decade, Pieter has been a teacher at Selcourt Primary School and serves as the head of department for Afrikaans for grades four to seven.

According to him, being deputy principal has always been a big dream of his and a goal he wanted to achieve.
“Teaching and helping shape young children to be the best version of themselves is a passion. One of the most fulfilling feelings an educator can experience is when an old student comes up to you and gives you credit for their success,” said Pieter.
While he is currently serving as acting deputy head, he will officially bear the title of deputy head from April 1.
“I hope to be that one deputy principal who makes a noticeable difference in the lives of both educators and learners, to support and help the principal every step of the way,” he said..
Pieter’s passion, enthusiasm and dedication for educating children speaks volumes and he will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on many children’s lives.
