BSA league senior playoffs end with Leachville Shooters FC on top
The spirits were high and the matches intense and physical as the top four teams battled it out in the semi-finals and final.
The Brakpan Sports Association held a senior league playoff tournament on Sunday at the soccer field near Harvey Roofing Products in Vulcania.
Two semi-final games were played before the final match decided the top club of the league. Anzac Dolphins and Amabenjamin FC went head-to-head first, playing to a 1-1 draw. After a penalty shootout, Amabenjamin came out on 2-1.
Real Touch and Leachville Shooters battled it out in a physical game featuring several injuries. The Shooters beat Real Touch after a penalty shootout 3-1.
In the final match, Amabenjamin and Leachville Shooters took to the field in a heated game. Shooters won 2-0, with goals scored by man of the match Nqobile Gamede.
The tournament was supported by Brakpan SAPS Sector 1 manager and communications officer Constable. Audrey Buthelezi.
“We would thank Constable Buthelezi for the visibility of police during the games,” said BSA chairperson Maria Makola.
