Help make Brakpan SPCA trainee inspector’s dream a reality
The society has issued an appeal to the community for assistance with donations for its upcoming outreach day.
The Brakpan SPCA is calling on the public to help get its trainee inspector’s outreach programme up and running.
As reported in the Brakpan Herald’s February 28 edition, Zivai Manyika made the society immensely proud by acing his inspector entrance exam.
The exam is the first step in the journey to becoming an inspector, and Manyika obtained an impressive 86%. He recently passed two important tests, and Manyika is now awaiting the next inspector’s course.
This animal champion is, however, ready to hit the ground running, and the SPCA is gearing up for its first outreach day on May 7.
The community’s help is required to help make the day a success, and the society is appealing for donations of the following:
• Dip (Coopers Supadip): 5l can treat around 600 dogs
• Karbadust: Essential for flea control, especially for puppies
• Deworming treatments: Every pet deserves a healthy belly
• Vaseline: It is mixed to create an affordable fly-control solution
• Empty 2l and 5l bottles: Used to mix dip on outreach days
• Plastic packets: To pack and distribute food
• Dog and cat food: The SPCA has a little to start, but more is needed to keep tails wagging
• Old collars and leads: Some homemade collars just aren’t comfortable and the aim is to swop them out
• Plastic baths: For dipping stations. This is also where the SPCA can educate owners on pet care
• Printing services: For educational materials
• A new gazebo: The SPCA’s current gazebo is officially retired.
Donations can be dropped off at the SPCA office at 96 Denne Road in Witpoort during working hours, or collections can be arranged.
Monetary donations are also welcome.
The banking details are: Brakpan SPCA, Standard Bank, account number: 020 922 094, branch: 012 042, reference: Outreach Project.
