Domestic worker gagged with cloth during Kenleaf house robbery
While the victim was undoubtedly traumatised by the incident, she was physically unharmed.
Three robbers made off with jewellery, cash, firearms and other household items after ransacking a Kenleaf residence on Friday.
According to information received from Brakpan police, the intruders, two of whom were armed with guns, gained entry to the Ernest Street home at around noon.
The domestic worker employed by the family was walking to the kitchen when she was confronted by the trio inside the house.
She screamed and one of the men pointed a gun at her. The robbers asked the victim about her employer and she told them no one was at home.
She was then forced into a bedroom where the robbers gagged her with a cloth. The victim was told to lie on the floor and was warned not to make any noise.
After about five minutes, she heard the sound of a car’s engine. She got up to check and saw a small white bakkie driving away.
The victim called out for help and was assisted by the neighbours, who alerted her employer.
A case of house robbery is under investigation by local SAPS.
