Beware of job scams, Ekurhuleni warns

All skills development and job creation programmes offered by the city are completely free of charge.

The CoE has issued a strong warning to residents about a scam circulating on social media, falsely claiming to offer placement in the Public Employment Programme and learnerships in exchange for payment. It strongly advises residents not to fall for this scam.

The city stressed that all its job creation and skills development programmes are free and aimed at empowering residents, not exploiting them financially.

Currently, there are no open applications for these programmes. The most recent application window closed on August 29, and no new dates have been announced. A formal selection process is still pending, and successful candidates will be contacted directly by the Real Estate and Development Planning Department.

Residents are reminded that legitimate employment opportunities are advertised only on the CoE’s official website and verified channels.
