Tsakani – An off-duty police officer was shot dead in the early hours of Friday morning.

The constable, who is stationed at Brakpan SAPS in the Vispol Unit, was reportedly asleep at home when he was called to assist a neighbour.

He left his house to go to the neighbour’s property. As he attempted to investigate, he was shot several times.

The officer managed to flee back to his own home, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
