Village of Hope doubles support for children in Mgongo informal settlement

After supporting a family affected by a shack fire, Village of Hope is calling on community members, businesses, and organisations to help make Christmas special for children in need.

Brakpan-based Village of Hope visited the Mgongo informal settlement along Location Road on October 26 to mentor and provide meals to orphans and vulnerable children.

According to the NPO’s founder Tumie Masolane, the number of beneficiaries in this settlement has increased as children from Plastic City have joined, doubling the number of children in need.

The visit also saw the Village of Hope team support a family recently affected by a shack fire, including a 14-year-old injured child. The team provided food and school uniforms.

“We went to support and prayed with them. Our duty as an organisation is to be there in times of need. Our mission is to reach out and touch a soul, it doesn’t matter who you are,” said Tumie.

This Christmas, Village of Hope wants to bring smiles to all its beneficiaries with a special early celebration. This initiative depends entirely on the support of community members, businesses, and organisations willing to contribute and partner in making it possible.

“Our plan is to give our beneficiaries the best Christmas ever,” said Tumie.

For the latest outreach, she extended thanks to Pick n Pay Mall@Carnival, the Mgongo CPF, Ntsoaki Sindane (the NPO’s secretary) and Tlhokomelo Masolane (the NPO’s photographer)

Donations from community members, companies, and organisations are always welcome and appreciated.
