Brakpan weekend crime round-up: Woman robbed in smash-and-grab during morning traffic

An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from November 7 to 9.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

Friday – A female motorist was robbed of her cellphone in a smash-and-grab at the Heidelberg and New Kleinfontein roads intersection in Leachville.

The incident took place at about 06:20 while the victim was in slow-moving traffic at the four-way-stop. The victim suffered glass in her eyes after the window was smashed.

• A man was robbed by three occupants of a black Mazda in Leachville.

The victim was walking along Kaapmuiden Avenue when, at about 14:30, the vehicle stopped next to him.
Three men exited the car, all armed with pistols.

One of the men pointed a firearm at the victim, and the trio robbed him of his cellphone and R10 000 in cash, which his employer had given him to purchase stock.

Saturday – A silver Tata was stolen from an address along Stoffberg Avenue.
• A red Ford Ranger was stolen from Mall@Carnival.

Sunday – No priority cases were reported at the time of publication.
