Village of Hope prepares for Christmas party, calls for donations

After bringing smiles and support to children in Mgongo, Village of Hope is preparing for a festive Christmas celebration and is calling for donations of all kinds.

As part of their ongoing outreach efforts, Brakpan-based NPO Village of Hope visited the Mgongo informal settlement (Location Road) on November 10 to deliver meals and provide mentorship to orphans and vulnerable children.

The children greeted the team with hugs and smiles. According to NPO founder Tumie Masolane, the children’s joy and innocence inspires the volunteers to continue their work despite the challenges they face.

During the outreach, the team also visited the family of one of their young beneficiaries who died after suffering injuries in a shack fire. The mother was understandably distressed, and the volunteers offered comfort.

“Our work is to reach out and touch a soul. We prayed with the family because our hope is in God,” said Tumie.

The outreach was made possible thanks to support from Pick n Pay Mall@Carnival, the Mgongo CPF, and the Village of Hope team, including Ntsoaki Sindane (secretary) and Tlhokomelo Masolane (photographer).

“We are blessed to have these people around us,” said Tumie.

She added that preparations for their upcoming Christmas party are underway, and the NPO is calling for donations of all kinds from community members, companies, and organisations.
