Brakpan weekend crime round-up: Man arrested after attempted theft from bakkie

An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from November 14 to 16.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

Friday – A home along Augrabies Avenue in Leachville was burgled of unidentified household items and tools.

Saturday – A grey Toyota Corolla Cross was stolen from Prince George Avenue.
• A white Hyundai H100 was stolen from Springs Road in Denneoord.

Sunday – A man was arrested after vehicle parts were stolen from a bakkie parked at an address along Northdene Avenue.

A woman at the residence noticed a man opening the Nissan Hardbody that was parked under the carport.
The incident took place at about 12:15.

She went outside to investigate and found the man carrying a grease pump and other vehicle parts stored in the back of the bakkie.

The man attempted to run away, but the woman managed to hold onto him. He then pushed her to the ground, but neighbours arrived and assisted in detaining him. The man was handed over to police and detained at Brakpan SAPS.
