Our top picks of newly released books that make excellent gifts
Fiction and nonfiction books to gift your bookworm loved one this festive season.
With festive season around the corner, it can be difficult to pick which newly released books to gift your bookworm loved one. Here are our top picks of books, based on what your reader friend loves.
Book of lives
A “memoir of sorts” written by Margaret Atwood, the author of hit book “The Handmaid’s Tale” that criticised the rise in misogyny and oppression in the western world.
The Handmaid’s Tale is highly controversial, and sparked a television series that was first released in 2017, with the final episode being aired in May of this year.
Book of lives explores the author’s life, “linking key moments in her life to her iconic books, such as living in 1980s Berlin while she worked on The Handmaid’s Tale,” says Penguin Random House Company. The memoir released November 4.

Exit Strategy
Lee and Andrew Child expand on the Jack Reacher universe with this entry released on November 4. In it, Reacher finds a note in his pocket pleading for help, and embarks on a quest to find out who is behind the note.
The series, which also has film and television adaptations, is mainly penned by Jim Grant under the pen name Lee Child. There are over 50 novels and short stories in the series, and each one can be read independently from each other.
The titular character, Jack, is an ex-military police member, and gets involved in mysteries and action-packed plots frequently. For the Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys fans grown up, the Reacher series might be a perfect, more adult series to get into.

Fallen Stars
This novel by Imani Erriu is the second installment of the Heavenly Bodies trilogy, released November 27, in which the heroine Elara fights to rescue her soulmate Enzo.
For those who love young adult fantasy romance epics such as Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros, Caraval by Stephanie Garber and other similar novels, this series is the perfect growing collection to jump into.
How to survive Christmas
In this Jilly Cooper novel released in the 80s, now released in hardcover on November 13, self-help lovers can revisit the late author’s wisdom and advice for the festive season.
It helps with navigating the heightened emotions surrounding Christmas time, with all the planning, hosting, and being in each other’s space. It’s also perfectly in time for Christmas. For lovers of Atomic Habits and The 5 AM Club.
