Volunteers asked to help clean old Brenthurst Tennis Club Park
Clean Brakpan will be cleaning the park in Brenthurst on January 17, and need support.
Clean Brakpan will be cleaning the park at the old Brenthurst tennis club on January 17 from 07:00 and they need your help.
“If not now, when? If not you, then who?” reads a flyer made for the cleanup action, which also highlights one of the main reasons the group undertakes these volunteer cleanups: Criminal activity.
The long grass and unkempt bushes in this park, and many like it around Brakpan, are the perfect hiding place for criminals, pests, and illegal dumping.
While the parks are neglected, these problems continue to grow.
Clean Brakpan hopes that their efforts will reduce crime levels in town by removing hiding places, as well as improve public health and the environment.
They need volunteers; equipment like weed eaters or bush cutters, black bags, gloves, rakes, and shovels; fuel-powered mowers, along with petrol and diesel.
Anyone who would like to arrange to drop off donations or provide other support can contact Lisa Jordaan on 073 335 3947.
