EMPD, private security crack down on copper cable theft

The four men were arrested after officers discovered 20 pieces of copper cable in their vehicle.

EMPD Intervention Unit officers, in conjunction with members of a private security company, arrested four men last week for possession of suspected stolen goods in the Brakpan area.

According to the EMPD, officers received information regarding suspects allegedly in possession of suspected stolen goods.

With the assistance of private security members, the suspects were apprehended along Vlakfontein Road near Ergo while travelling in a white Nissan bakkie.

A search was conducted, during which officers discovered 20 pieces of copper cables.

The suspects, aged between 26 and 35, were arrested and charged with possession of suspected stolen property.

They were detained at the Brakpan Police Station.
