Murder investigation underway after body of young man found in Leachville Ext 2

A young man’s body, showing eight visible wounds, was discovered by recyclers. The public is urged to provide tips to help bring the perpetrator(s) to justice.

Brakpan police have registered a murder docket following the discovery of a young man’s body in Leachville Ext 2 on March 26.

The 22-year-old victim was found in a trench at the corner of Boven and Blyde streets by recyclers.

“The body was discovered in the afternoon, and the police were summoned to the scene,” said Constable Audrey Buthelezi, Brakpan SAPS social crime prevention and communications officer.

She added that the man had eight visible wounds to his body.

“People living nearby identified the deceased, and the family was immediately contacted. The father of the deceased came and positively identified the body,” said Buthelezi.

She confirmed that investigations are underway.

“The police are calling on anyone who might have information regarding the senseless killing of a young man to come forward and assist with making sure that the perpetrator(s) are brought to justice,” said Buthelezi.

Brakpan SAPS station commander Brigadier Johanna Ngoma condemned the “gruesome and unjustified act” and affirmed that SAPS detectives will not rest until the suspect(s) are arrested and face the full wrath of the law.
