Weekend crime round-up

An overview of crimes reported to local SAPS from January 20 to 22.

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

Friday – A spare wheel and tools were stolen from a vehicle parked along Kingsway Avenue.

• Laptops were stolen during a break-in at a business along Gladstone Avenue.

• A business along Springs Road in Denneoord was broken into and different types of wires were stolen.

Saturday – Three residential and one business burglary were reported.

Homes in Witpoortjie and Springs roads in Rand Collieries and Wenden Avenue were burgled of various household items, including clothes, a laptop and high pressure washers.

A lawn mower and a weed eater were stolen from a business along Hendrik Potgieter Street in Dalview.

Sunday – A home in Wenden Avenue was burgled of a car battery, an electric frying pan, a gate motor and other valuables.

• The driver of a white Hyundai was robbed of his vehicle at at an address along Naboom Crescent in Dalpark.

The victim was hijacked by four occupants of a white Toyota Corolla at around 17:30.

At least one of the hijackers was armed with a gun.

The victim and his companion were unharmed.
