Rider robbed of motorcycle after roadside attack in Brakpan North

A rider was threatened with a knife and robbed after attackers used a rope to block his path.

A motorcyclist was robbed of his bike and personal belongings during an attack along Hospital Road in Brakpan North on the evening of June 28.

According to police information, the incident took place at around 20:30. The rider, travelling on a black SYM motorcycle, saw four men on the road.

As he approached, two crossed to the other side of the road, and a rope was pulled across the roadway from both sides in an attempt to prevent him from passing.

The rider stopped and tried to make a U-turn to escape.

He then got off the motorcycle and confronted the attackers, but one of the men was armed with a knife.

Two of the men tried to take his cellphone but failed, while the other two took his motorcycle.

The rider eventually managed to flee from the scene. He was also robbed of his driver’s licence and house keys.

A hijacking case is under investigation by Brakpan SAPS.
